Lumentum, Astera Labs and Corning Demo 1060nm VCSEL-Based PCIe-over-Optics for AI Rack-Scale Connectivity at OCP Global Summit
Lumentum, Astera Labs and Corning are demonstrating PCIe-over-optics connectivity for AI rack-scale architectures at the 2026 OCP Global Summit. The demo combines an Astera Labs Scorpio Smart Fabric Switch with Lumentum's 1060nm VCSEL-based optical interconnect platform and Corning multi-mode fiber connectivity.

Molecular arrangement controls crystal polarity and reverses photocurrent direction
Researchers at Science Tokyo have shown that the circular photogalvanic effect in two-dimensional organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites arises from the crystal bulk rather than its surface. Using circularly polarized light at normal incidence, they found helicity-dependent photocurrents that reversed with light handedness and with crystal polarity in chiral enantiomers. The lead iodide layers provide strong spin-orbit coupling while molecular cations set bulk polarity.
